What is a noise decibel monitor?
Noise decibel monitors, like Minut, track how loud it gets inside your property, as well as how long the noise lasts. They don’t record conversations or capture any audio content, only the sound level itself. This allows you to stay informed about noise issues while fully respecting guest privacy.
Where can noise decibel monitors be installed?
Airbnb allows hosts to use noise decibel monitors indoors, as long as the following guidelines are followed:
You must inform guests that a noise monitor is in use.
Monitors cannot be placed in private spaces such as bedrooms, bathrooms, or sleeping areas.
You do not need to specify the exact location of the monitor within allowed areas.

Staying compliant with Airbnb
When listing your property, be sure to clearly disclose that a noise monitoring device is installed. This helps set expectations and maintain trust with your guests. With Minut, you can confidently monitor noise, prevent issues, and provide a better experience for everyone, all while staying within Airbnb's policies.
You don't have to do this by hand: when you link a Minut home to an Airbnb listing, Minut can automatically add a "Noise decibel monitors" disclosure to the listing for you, reading "Privacy-safe monitoring by Minut, a trusted partner of Airbnb." Minut clears that disclosure again once the last Minut sensor is removed, or the property is unlinked.
Automatic disclosure updates require that the Airbnb connection grants listing-write permission (owner or Full Access co-host). If that permission isn't granted, or the listing has its amenity or disclosure attribute locked on Airbnb, the update may be ignored.
If you remove the disclosure manually on Airbnb, Minut won't re-add it until the next link, sensor add/remove, or unlink event.
If the first update attempt fails while linking, Minut retries automatically to increase the chance the listing gets updated correctly.

Automatic safety amenities
If a linked home also has at least one healthy A1 Smoke & CO Alarm online, Minut automatically adds the smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector amenities to that Airbnb listing too- and removes them again once the last healthy A1 is removed or the home is unlinked. This follows the same listing-write permission requirement as the disclosure above, and won't overwrite any other amenities already set on the listing.
