What triggers a tamper alert
.
M2 or M3 sensor removed from plate
Any time the sensor is physically separated from the magnetic mounting plate whether by a guest, a cleaner, or intentional removal by you or your team.
E1 lid removal
On the E1 sensor, removing the lid also triggers a tamper alert. The lid must be opened to access the internal cables and reset button this is expected during installation.
Tamper alerts during your own maintenance are expected. Any time you remove the sensor yourself to charge it, reposition it, or perform maintenance, a tamper alert will fire. You can dismiss it from the app. It doesn't indicate a problem; it confirms the feature is working.
Frequently asked questions
Can I turn tamper detection off?
No; tamper detection is always active and cannot be disabled. This is by design: a sensor that has been tampered with cannot be trusted to send its own "tamper off" notification, so the feature runs independently of other settings
I received a tamper alert but the sensor is still in place
A brief separation from the plate, for example if the sensor was knocked and momentarily detached, is enough to trigger the alert. Check that the sensor is firmly snapped onto the plate. If the sensor appears secure and you receive repeated tamper alerts, contact hello@minut.com with the MAC address.
Will guests be notified?
No. Tamper alerts are sent only to team members, admins, and owners of the rental unit. Guests do not receive any notification.
How do I dismiss a tamper alert?
Open the Minut app → tap the notification or find it in the event log → tap Dismiss. Reattach the sensor to the mounting plate first the alert will remain active until the sensor is back in place and the alert is dismissed.
Thinking about moving the sensor? If you plan to remove the sensor to reposition it or charge it, the tamper alert is expected and can be dismissed afterwards. For guidance on safely removing the mounting plate, see How to move or remove your sensor.
My device was stolen
Minut sensors are not covered against theft. We recommend including a clause in your rental agreement that holds guests financially responsible for any damage to or theft of equipment on the premises as this is the most effective way to protect yourself before an incident occurs.
If a sensor is stolen, you can file a report with your local police or speak to your home insurance provider. You may also seek reimbursement from the guest directly, where your rental agreement and platform policies allow.
