How to set up the Ring integration

Written by Britney

Connect your Ring camera to receive motion alerts and view live video and recordings.

"Ring is a home security company that offers smart doorbells, cameras, and alarm systems. The Ring integration is currently only available for customers in the US."

All integrations can be linked via our web app.

Before you start

  • Available only with a US Ring account, and only for Ring doorbells. Other Ring devices, such as indoor cameras, floodlights or alarms, are not supported.

  • The person connecting the Ring account must be in the United States when they connect it.

  • Guests can only see the live view for their own Location during their Stay.

  • Ring notifications are sent through the Minut app and email only, not by SMS or WhatsApp.

Connecting Minut with Ring

  1. Everything is connected via our web app under Integrations. Click on Ring and click Connect. You'll be directed to log in to your Ring account and allow Minut to access your devices.

  2. After connecting your Ring account, link each Minut Location to the matching Ring Location. All Ring doorbells at that Ring Location then become available in Minut. You can unlink a Location later without disconnecting your Ring account.

  3. Open the live view from the Minut dashboard or the Minut Guest app to watch a Ring doorbell in real time. Use the camera selector to switch between doorbells, and the mute and reconnect controls if needed.

  4. Guests get temporary access through the Minut Guest app, only for their own Location and only during their Stay. Outside their Stay, the Guest app shows a message instead of the live view.

With the Ring integration you can:

  • Watch live video from your Ring doorbells in the Minut dashboard, and let Guests watch it in the Guest app during their Stay.

  • See Ring events (doorbell pressed, person detected) with snapshots in your Minut event log, alongside your other Minut events. You can also watch the video clip when one is available.

  • Get push notifications and emails for Ring doorbell events, based on each user's notification settings for outdoor camera events.

  • Let Guests see the events from their Stay in the Guest app (event list and snapshots, not video clips).

  • Use Ring person detection to help detect Guest arrivals and no-shows in Locations without an indoor Minut motion device.

  • Get a Frequent motion alert when there are 10 or more motion events within 1 hour. This alert is sent at most once per hour.

  • Get more accurate occupancy tracking, as Minut counts people entering and leaving separately.

For step-by-step use and visuals, see Monitoring your property with Ring within Minut.

Events and notifications

  • Ring doorbells create these events in Minut: doorbell pressed, person detected and Frequent motion (10 or more motion events in 1 hour). Other motion, such as pets, vehicles or packages, does not create an event or notification.

  • Snapshots appear in your Minut event log, and you can watch the video clip when one is available. Guests see the event list and snapshots, but not video clips.

  • When Minut detects a group of people arriving, the group arrival event includes a "View footage" button so you can watch the Ring clip that triggered it.

  • Notifications are sent as push notifications in the Minut app and by email. Guests do not receive notifications for Ring events.

Troubleshooting

  • A snapshot or video clip may not be available for every event, for example for very recent events or older footage. The event still appears in your event log.

  • Ring can end a live stream. If the live view stops, use the reconnect button to try again.
