Salto

Connect your Salto smart lock to Minut to automatically share access codes with guests and let them unlock from the Guest App.

Written by Emilie Pain

Connect Minut with Salto to give the people staying at the property their access code automatically. Minut uses the stay dates to share the code before check-in, and guests can unlock the door from the Guest App during their stay.

Where to connect: all integrations are connected in the web app at web.minut.com → Integrations. Smart lock integrations are available on the Starter, Standard and Pro plans.

Create a seamless welcome by offering the people staying at the property the ability to self check-in with Salto.

Before you start

  • A Minut account on the Starter, Standard or Pro plan

  • A Salto account with your locks set up

  • A booking connection (a PMS or Airbnb) or reservations added in Minut, so Minut knows the stay dates

Connect Minut with Salto

  1. Go to the Integrations menu in the web app.

The Integrations page in the Minut web app

  2. Select the Salto integration and click Connect. Follow the instructions on screen to connect your Salto account.

Link your rental units to locks

Link each Salto lock to the corresponding Minut rental unit in the Salto integration settings. Only linked rental units share access codes with guests.

Access codes and the Guest App

Once a rental unit is linked to a lock, Minut provides the people staying at the property with an access code for their stay. Codes are tied to the stay dates and expire at check-out.

Note: Salto locks support access codes and remote unlock only. Guests cannot lock the door remotely from the Guest App.

What guests get

  • An automated SMS with their access code shortly before the stay starts

  • The code in the Guest App, where they can also unlock the door during their stay

Lock access in the Guest App is only available within the stay window.

Set a guest's code yourself

Codes are generated automatically, but you can set or edit a code for a specific guest from the reservation in Reservations. See The Guest App: overview for Hosts.

Turn off lock access in the Guest App

Lock access is on by default. To turn it off, go to Reservations → Settings → Guest app and turn off the Smart locks toggle.

Messages to guests

Add the access code to your messages with the access code shortcode, and include it in your check-in instructions. Set up check-in, check-out and other scheduled messages in Guest Journey, and noise alert messages in your Noise Preset. Replies to messages appear in your Inbox. For an overview, see Messaging.

Disconnect

To disconnect Salto, open Integrations in the web app, select Salto and disconnect it.

If you only need to fix a connection problem, use Reconnect instead. It keeps your settings and rental unit links (see Troubleshooting below).

Troubleshooting

Minut asks you to reconnect

Open Integrations, select Salto and click Reconnect. You will be asked to log in to Salto again.

Reconnecting keeps your settings and rental unit links, so do not disconnect first.

Your lock is not listed

Make sure the lock is set up in your Salto account, then go back to Minut and try again. Make sure you logged in to the Salto account that owns the lock.

A guest did not receive their access code

Check that the rental unit is linked to the lock, that the stay exists in Minut with check-in and check-out dates, and that the message includes the access code shortcode. Also check that the stay has a guest phone number, since the code is sent by SMS.

A guest cannot unlock from the Guest App, or cannot lock the door

Salto supports remote unlock only, so guests cannot lock the door from the Guest App. Unlocking only works during the stay, so guests cannot use it before check-in or after check-out. Also check that the Smart locks toggle is on in Reservations → Settings → Guest app.

If none of this helps, contact our support team at hello@minut.com and tell us which rental unit is affected and what you see.
