How to set up the HostBuddy AI Integration

Written by Emilie Pain

Connect Minut with HostBuddy AI to message your guests automatically, using AI, when something happens at the property. HostBuddy AI uses Minut events as triggers for the messages it sends to the people staying at the property.

Where to connect: this integration is set up from HostBuddy AI's platform, in the Settings tab of your HostBuddy AI account, not in the Minut web app.

HostBuddy AI enhances guest communication for short-term rental hosts. It automates responses to guest messages, troubleshoots common issues, and works with property management systems to reply through your existing communication channels. It also gives you key metrics on your communication and tracks guest-reported issues at your properties.

Before you start

  • A Minut account

  • A HostBuddy AI account with your properties

Connect Minut with HostBuddy AI

  1. In your HostBuddy AI account, go to the Integrations page in the Settings tab.

  2. Select Minut from the integrations marketplace.

  3. Log in to your Minut account.

Link your rental units

Link each of your Minut rental units to the matching HostBuddy property.

Only linked rental units are used for HostBuddy AI messages.

What syncs

Once a rental unit is linked, Minut and HostBuddy AI exchange these details about the people staying at the property:

  • Name

  • Phone number

  • Check-in and check-out times

  • The property they are staying at

Stay reservations are deleted from Minut (not from HostBuddy AI) 14 days after the check-out date.

Messages to guests

When stay information is available and loud noise is detected, Minut can contact the people staying at the property. Set up noise alert messages in your Noise Preset, and check-in, check-out and other scheduled messages in Guest Journey.

Replies to messages appear in your Inbox.

For an overview, see Messaging.

Messages sent through HostBuddy AI

You can also let HostBuddy AI send messages based on Minut events. With Minut and HostBuddy AI you can:

  • Send messages to guests on different OTAs (such as Airbnb, VRBO and Booking.com) through their PMS integration, based on Minut events.

  • Use AI to tailor each message and make the communication more personal.

  • Send follow-up messages to guests who have not responded to the first message.

  • Let HostBuddy AI take over the guest conversation after the first contact.

  • Set advanced variables to choose which guests receive notifications.

These messages are set up in HostBuddy AI, using Smart Templates:

  1. In your HostBuddy AI account, go to the Messaging tab.

  2. Select Smart Templates from your Messaging inbox menu.

  3. Create a new smart template using Minut triggers and conditions that match what you need.

Disconnect

To disconnect HostBuddy AI, open Integrations in the web app, select HostBuddy AI and disconnect it.

When you disconnect, your rental units are unlinked from HostBuddy AI and Minut stops sending new and updated stays. If you connect again, you will need to link your rental units again.

If you only need to fix a connection problem, reconnect instead of disconnecting. Reconnecting keeps your rental units linked.

Troubleshooting

Minut asks you to reconnect

A banner on the Integrations page tells you the connection with HostBuddy AI needs attention. Open Integrations, select HostBuddy AI and reconnect. Log in to your Minut account again from HostBuddy AI if asked. Do not disconnect first, as that removes your links.

Messages are not being sent

Check that your Minut rental unit is linked to the right HostBuddy property, and that the reservation exists with check-in and check-out times. Only linked rental units are used. Also check that your smart template uses the Minut trigger and conditions you expect.

A guest's phone number is missing

Booking.com stopped sharing guest phone numbers through PMS connections on 28 September 2025, so some stays arrive without one. Open the stay in the Minut web app and add the number to the imported reservation.

If none of this helps, contact our support team at hello@minut.com and tell us which rental unit is affected and what you see.
