Right now, Point can’t distinguish between a large pet and a person but -- the good news is -- we have a DIY fix for those of you with larger animals in your home or a roaming robotic vacuum. 

Here’s how you can make your Point work with pets and robotic vacuums (please also see the images below):

  • Instead of following our standard directions, mount your Point  vertically on a  wall, ideally pointing towards an entrance and avoid facing a window.
  • Use a small piece of paper and adhesive tape to cover the lower part of the lens (the lens is basically the face of the Point). We suggest using  tape and white paper to keep it from being too noticeable.
  • If the alarm still triggers on low moving objects, adjust the paper to cover more of the lens. When performing the test on the device, please note that there is a grace period of 45 seconds. 

This way Point will not be able to see below a certain height, so pets and vacuum cleaners can easily pass under the detection field.

We do, however, have many happy Point owners with smaller cats and dogs that use the alarm daily, without issue. If the possibility of a pet triggering the alarm is keeping you from purchasing a Point, we’d like to offer you the opportunity to test it out for 30 days. If, after that time, you find the Point doesn’t work for your situation, we’ll accept your return for a full product refund within 30 days.

We want Point to be valuable for all customers. We are constantly working to improve Point and are looking into a better solution for future versions of the product.
